Students are required to meet the requirements for receiving the scholarship set forth by the Scholarship Office.

Dr. Marvin D. Mills, Sr. Scholars Program

The Office of Student Enrichment, Academic Excellence & Leadership (SEAL) provides resources, academic support, programming and leadership opportunities. In addition, the office assists the University in providing a forum to help all persons on campus, and in the greater Murray community, better understand way to collaboratively work together.

The Scholars Program is a part of SEAL located in the Dr. Marvin D. Mills, Sr., Multicultural Center, Curris Center Room 101. SEAL is a place on campus where students can find a community that focuses on the student experience. The Office serves as a place for students to meet, study and reflect.

Purpose

The Dr. Marvin D. Mills, Sr. Scholars Program is responsible for the development and implementation of programs, activities, and procedures designed to enhance the leadership development, academic success, retention, and personal development of Dr. Marvin D. Mills, Sr. Scholars.

Dr. Marvin D. Mills Leadership Scholarships

Awarded to Incoming Freshmen

Who is eligible
Graduating high school seniors with:

  • A minimum of 24 ACT composite score
  • AND a 3.2 cumulative GPA on a 4.0 scale

AWARD COVERS

  • Tuition cost equal to Kentucky cost of tuition
  • On-campus housing (double occupancy)
  • Meal plan
  • Awarded for up to four years at Murray State, or until a Bachelor's degree is obtained (whichever occurs first)
  • Scholars must meet requirements listed below each year to renew

RENEWAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Completion of current year FAFSA
  • Maintain a 2.75 cumulative GPA
  • Enroll full-time (at least 12 credit hours per semester)
  • Earn at least 24 credits hours within the academic year (fall & spring semesters combined)
  • Participate and maintain good standing in the Emerging Scholars Institute
  • Participate in SEAL Leadership Initiatives

 

Awarded to Incoming Freshmen

Who is eligible
Graduating high school seniors with a 3.0 cumulative GPA on a 4.0 scale

AWARD COVERS

  • Up to $6,000 annually - can pay toward any direct cost, non-penalty fees (i.e. tuition, on-campus housing, meal plan, etc.)
  • Awarded for up to four years at Murray State, or until a Bachelor's degree is obtained (whichever occurs first)
  • Scholars must meet requirements listed below each year to renew

RENEWAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Completion of current year FAFSA
  • Maintain a 2.75 cumulative Murray State GPA
  • Enroll full-time (at least 12 credit hours per semester)
  • Earn at least 24 credits hours within the academic year (fall & spring semesters combined)
  • Participate and maintain good standing in the Emerging Scholars Institute

Who is eligible
Current Murray State students enrolled full-time with:

  • a 2.5 cumulative GPA
  • AND enrolled full-time for the upcoming academic year
  • AND in good standing with the Emerging Scholars Institute
  • AND involved in leadership activities

AWARD COVERS

  • Up to $2000 annually - can pay toward any direct cost, non-penalty fees (i.e. tuition, on-campus housing, meal plan, etc)
  • Awarded for up to six semesters at Murray State, or until a Bachelor's degree is obtained (whichever occurs first)
  • Scholars must meet requirements listed below each year to renew

RENEWAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Completion of current year FAFSA
  • Maintain a 2.5 cumulative Murray State GPA
  • Enroll full-time (at least 12 credit hours per semester)
  • Earn at least 24 credits hours within the academic year (fall & spring semesters combined)
  • Participate and maintain good standing in the Emerging Scholars Institute
