Dr. Traci Byrd

Dr. Traci Byrd is chair and an associate professor of Occupational Safety and Health at Murray State University.  She received both B.S. and M.A. degrees from Murray State University and an Ed.D. from Union University.  She has taught for the Department of Occupational Safety and Health at Murray State for over 20 years and serves as the Emergency Medical Training Program Coordinator for one of the top emergency medical training programs in Kentucky. Currently, she is the director of the Occupational Safety and Health Training Center at Murray State, providing training in various safety and health areas including hazardous materials handling and response, hazard communications, confined space, and incident command training. She was appointed to the Kentucky Occupational Safety and Health Standards Board by KY Governor Andy Beshear in 2019 and currently serves as a member of the Board of Directors for the Kentucky Safety and Health Network. Dr. Byrd is a member of the American Society of Safety Professionals and is also co-chair of the Murray State University Safe Community Network.
