Summer Art Workshop

Dates: June 8-14, 2025!

Open to rising 9th graders through recent high school grads.

Summer Art Workshop is for both first-timers and experienced artists. Jump into hands-on seminars, visit galleries, and participate in fun art-related activities in the evenings. At the end of the week, family and friends are invited to see your works displayed in a gallery during our closing ceremony.

Campus Living

SAW campers may be "residential" (sleep overnight in a dorm room with a roommate) or "commuter" (go to your home each evening and return in the morning). Both residential and commuter campers are welcome to eat 3 meals per day in the campus dining hall. Just like college students, campers will walk around MSU's campus each day to arrive to the cafeteria, their residence hall, their seminars, and other scheduled activities.

Art & Design

SAW showcases multiple art disciplines! Try your hand at different types of media and discover new ways to create. You'll expand your knowledge of studio art, color theory, and contemporary art theory. Campers will receive instruction from MSU faculty, use professional equipment, and have the opportunity to produce college-level works of art.

After Registration

A few weeks before camp, campers and adults will receive an email (and campers will receive a packet in the mail) with info about check-in, what to pack, behavior expectations, medical info, and other details. In the meantime, connect with Summer Art Workshop on social media for announcements and sneak peeks.

Vehicles

Families can drop off and pick up campers during designated times. Commuter campers may be chauffeured daily by an adult or drive themselves. Communicate with the camp director about a check-in/check-out plan for each day of camp. Resident campers are welcome to bring their own car and leave it parked on campus for the week. Campers are not allowed to drive personal vehicles during SAW. Keys may be collected by camp staff.

¿ì»îÊÓƵ the Program

$550 Resident Camper: Includes tuition, a double-occupancy dorm room, daily meals, accident insurance, and most instructional materials.

$450 Commuter Camper: Includes tuition, accident insurance, most instructional materials and daily meals. However, many commuter campers choose to eat breakfast at home. We welcome commuter campers to stay for evening activities. Specific daily pick-up/drop-off plans will be arranged between the camper's family and the Camp Director during opening day check-in.

After filling out the registration form at the top of this page, a URL will appear to take you to the payment page.

To reserve your spot at camp, a $150 nonrefundable deposit is required at registration. You may pay the full amount now if you will not apply for a scholarship. If you will apply for a scholarship, only pay the deposit now. All families with outstanding balances will be contacted in the spring to pay their remaining amount.

A $15 card transaction fee is applied to all payments made via credit/debit card. However, card payments are recommended if you are paying your full amount because they are the only method of payment eligible for a partial refund (minus $150) if you withdraw from camp (including unforeseen circumstances like injuries, illness, emergency, etc). Checks, WebChecks, and cash payments are non-refundable.

Cancellations must be emailed to the Camp Registrar by May 9, 2025 to qualify for a partial refund (minus a $150 fee). No refunds will be issued after May 9, 2025.
